Week of August 23, 2010
Gratitude:
We are grateful to our veteran teachers for helping our “rookies” on campus get settled with materials, lesson plans, organization tools, and classroom management ideas. YHS is fortunate to have a strong cadre of experienced educators who are willing to share what they know.
We very much appreciate the hard work that our department secretaries – Nellie, Gabby, and Ginger – have done to get staff ready for instruction. They are among the unsung heroes at YHS!
Thank you freshmen teachers for helping our students quickly and effectively transition to a rigorous, academic atmosphere. You are setting up the Class of 2014 for success!
Reminders:
Our instructional focus during August is Writing and Communicating Objectives. Remember to tell students what they need to know and be able to do, as well as why they need to do it!
Teachers: please stop by Snider Auditorium during your planning period on Monday or Tuesday to have your photo taken for the yearbook.
Adult presence and visibility in the hallways and breezeways between classes helps students behave better, and gives you a chance to check in with your colleagues. Thanks for being out and about!

Quote to Consider: “Organizations are no longer built on force. They are increasingly built on trust…this presupposes that people understand one another. Taking relationship responsibility is therefore an absolute necessity. It is a duty.”
